Born in The Hague, The Netherlands, in 1968; studied art history at the University of Leiden (concluded with a doctoral paper on the iconography of the 18th and 19th century masonic apron); has worked as an art historian for Kroon & Wagtberg Hansen Art Historical Project Management on museum and cultural projects since 1999; currently combining this with a PhD-study in art history at the University of Leiden on the subject of ‘The influence of Dutch freemasons on the cultural and commercial exchange with Asia, 1735-1853, and the material culture resulting from this exchange‘.
Organizer of the conference ‘Kunst & Westerse Esoterie‘ at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in 1999; founder and chairwoman of the OVN (foundation for the advancement of academic research of freemasonry in the Netherlands) in 2001.
Arbeitsschwerpunkte
The material culture and iconography of (Dutch) freemasonry; the relationship between western esotericism and art, architecture and design; conservation of cultural heritage.
